It's Tuesday, January 14, I and my partner, Mayvilyn Ramos, have only 3 days left to process our Adventist Volunteer Services requirements before flying to Africa. Another challenge is the Passport for Mission Course which we needed to answer and it's really impossible to finish it because we don't have enough time. And we're wondering if we could fly as scheduled on January 19. "God, help us and let Your will be done" is our prayer and we started processing our requirements. Indeed, God heard! We finished the online application. Friday came, we were told that we can fly without the service request from East Central African Division (ECD) and we would not encounter problems about it in the airport.
This is like the story of Moses! We are like the Israelites, Moses as their leader and ours is God! Moses was pleading before Pharaoh to let the Israelites go and we are pleading before God to let us go! When they reached the Red Sea, escape seems impossible! Behind them are the cruel Egyptians and infront of them was a vast body of water. But a miracle still lies ahead for the ultimate deliverance!
It was a lesson learned from the past that we needed to have all the documents in our hands to be presented to the immigration before going to the Airport. Behind us is the cruel enemy working as he tried everything he can to make it difficult for us to process the requirements; and infront of us is a vast wall - the immigration! IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE BUT PRAYER MADE IT POSSIBLE! At last, we came at the immigration with 6 attending officers. Six? Interesting number! We took out our documents and prayed. Then, we queued! Quite a number of people and came our turn! Ate Maya is behind me and as I was heading to the immigration officer, I somehow see a familiar face! But I'm not yet so sure cause I can't clearly see that far. Going nearer, the officer smiled and I noticed the printed name in the counter: "Lucman." Then, I smiled back and greetings followed. He asked me what am I doing there and where we are going. I replied and asked him what he is doing there too and how long he had been there. We had quite a funny conversation and what an unexpected meeting! Amazing divine appointment! He didn't check our documents and didn't even asked us questions as what we are expecting. In fact, I was the one who offered him to take a look at our documents but he never mind! Then we prayed, thanking God and proceeded smoothly. Praises and Glory to God in the Highest!
Moses lifted up his rod towards the sea and it was parted into two. The power of God was manifested, the Israelites walked through the dry land, and their cruel enemies died in the waters! The God of heaven opened the way for us and we were able to walk through smoothly - JUST LIKE CROSSING THE RED SEA! The enemy was defeated and God's mission and purpose will be fulfilled. The Israelites were about to begin their journey through the Promised Land; and we are about to start our sojourn in a foreign land to help prepare perishing souls to the coming of Christ Jesus and ultimately enter the Promised Heaven. Here we come, Africa!
