Youth who experienced PYC 2014 |
With some PAFCOE graduates and newly-graduates in
attendance, the main speaker, Jan Harry Cabungcal, the current Vice-President for Evangelism for ASI-Switzerland, inspired everyone with his experiences of sharing
Jesus wherever he went and whoever he met. He is a neuroscientist by profession but his passion in soul-winning is substantially encouraging. His testimonies of experiencing Christ motivated every youth to 'witness to attest.' So, with the challenge that he left, we were more driven to be a blessing to others and experience Christ ourselves –
wherever, whenever, however, and whoever.
After the simultaneous
efforts done by PAFCOE staff, graduates, and students in 29 different sites of
the country, where more than 400 were baptized, our group was headed for
Mindanao (the southern major island) to spend our vacation.
We were 12 in all going back to our respective hometowns to refresh and devote
sometime with our families for the holiday season.
On the 23rd of December, 2014, as we were sailing, we planned and prepared for the next day’s medical and gospel mission. By then, the Ship Ministry was organized. Indeed,
alike missionary minds and spirit beget missionary work!
First time Experience
Singing during worship at the public prayer room |
I have been traveling by water alone but it was my first time to
travel with a group. We sailed for around 59 hours: 3 mornings and 2 evenings.
We had wonderful worship times, sharing times and fellowship for the whole
duration of the trip. Above all, the medical and gospel mission was
unforgettable and worthy of God’s praise! Have you ever done such before? I
haven’t myself! It was absolutely my first time! And it was such a great
blessing, not just for me but for all of us!

What we did?
Prayer was the first thing! Then we planned: What we want to achieve in our mission, the programme, the committees and persons responsible, and how to carry it all out. Then we prayed again to end. Next, we asked for permission if we can use the lobby to draw many people. But God has another plan. They allowed us to do it anywhere we want, except the lobby; so we opted to occupy the space in the charging area, and did what the Lord wanted us to do.
We had practical health lectures, blood pressure checking,
massage, and health consultation – all for free!
Began with singing to attract listeners Left to right: Glean, Precious, Sunshine, Rovil and Fermin

“The gospel of health
is to be firmly linked with the ministry of the Word. It is the Lord’s design
that the restoring influence of health reform shall be a part of the last great
effort to proclaim the gospel message.” -MM, p.259
People were blessed and it returned to us tenfold. We thank and Praise God for around 4 hours of witnessing for Him in the ship through the gospel of health and the ministry of the Word!
